When you finally get to level 70, you'll be ready for the next job advancement. This is when you become even more powerful than you were before, gaining new skills and more strength as a reward for leveling up so high. At this point you will become either a Hermit or a Chief Bandit. Hermits are ranged attackers while Chief Bandits are very fast melee characters. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
To actually obtain the 3rd job, go to El Nath and talk to Arec at the Chief Residence. When you're done with him, make the trip to Victoria Island and talk to the Dark Lord once again in Kerning City. After talking to him, go to Monkey Swamp II, where you'll find the Door of Dimension. Go inside and fight the Dark Lord's evil side, obtaining the Black Charm for defeating him.
Go talk to the Dark Lord again and give him the Black Charm, and he'll give you a Necklace of Strength in return. Give this to Arec and then go to Sharp Cliff II and enter the door in the top-right corner of the map. There should be a big rock in this area. Next, you need to talk to it using a Dark Crystal, and it'll then ask you five questions. After answering them, you'll be given a Necklace of Wisdom. Go all the way back to Arec and give your newly obtained necklace to him. You'll get the 3rd job advancement after talking to him for a bit.

By the time you reach level 30 as a warrior in Maplestory, you're ready to go on to your 2nd job advancement. In order to get the 2nd job advancement, you need to pass a test and then choose one of three jobs.
Remember Dances with Balrog? Go back to Perion and talk to him. After doing so, head west until the music changes (about two "screens"). Then go up for a while until you see someone standing. Talk to this man and he'll take you to the testing area, where you'll be fighting Lupins and Fire Boars. These are a little different from the ones you normally find, but they have less HP. In order to always land a hit on them, you need 43 points in accuracy. If you don't meet that, buy some sniper potions and use them to boost your accuracy during the test. You don't need to fight both types of monsters, so it's recommended that you fight only the Fire Boars as the Lupins can be difficult to kill.
These monsters drop marbles, and you need 30 of them in order to prove your worth. After you've collected them all, talk to the guy in the testing area and he'll give you an item called Proof of Hero. Take that item to Dances with Balrog and at last, he'll let you choose whether you want to be a Fighter, a Page, or a Spearman.
Fighters and Pages are essentially the same until you reach level 50, but Spearmen are considerably worse for a while. For this reason, most people choose to be Fighters or Pages at this point. From levels 50-70 Spearmen eventually catch up, while, as it turns out, Pages actually become the weakest in the end. Fighters become the strongest with a skill called Rage.
Fighters can deal a huge amount of damage with one hit, Spearmen can kill multiple enemies quicker than the other two jobs, and Pages can use cool elemental attacks. Choose which one suits you.

When starting a new character, or just starting anew in Maplestory, many people have a hard time deciding which character is "the best." Truth is, this is a very subjective decision. What might be "the best" for one person might feel awkward or "the worst" to another. A person's opinion may very well change as they get more familiar with the game or as new content is released. This article was written in order to help others in choosing what class might best suit them. This article will look mainly at the Maplestory Legends, more specifically the Aran and Evan classes. I have just bought Maplestory Guide
As previously mentioned, this guide is aimed specifically towards those of you on the lower end of the leveling spectrum.
The first, and by far the most difficult (and frustrating!) part will be finding one. The Jr. Balrog resides at the very bottom of the dungeon in the Cursed Sanctuary and spawns once every 6 hours..
First of all, let's look at what the Balrog is capable of. It has two ranged attacks both dealing around about 2,600 and a touch damage of about 1,700. Hardly a complex opponent, but oh well. Finally, it has 50,000HP
Before I get onto the strategy I should probably mention, this is only for ranged classes. If you're melee, you've only got one option, I'm sure you can guess.
OK! The strategy is simple, all you need to do is hit and run, luring the Jr. Balrog left and right. This is easily done due to the layout of the map.
First you jump down on the left side, and hit the Balrog to make it chase after you, then attack while jumping back/teleporting and finally retreat up the ladder. Head over to the right so that the Jr Balrog follows you. When you are at the top right part, wait for the Balrog to move past you, and jump down to the left. Attack and teleport/jump back once again until it dies. Archers, you'll probably need some speed gear. The Jr. Balrog does have a hidden regeneration rate, so if your damage output is too low it may seem like it's taking an eternity to beat, this is most likely why.

It has no real abilities and nothing much to look out for... except its ridiculously high touch damage. This beast will hit you for upwards of 12,000 damage, though funnily enough its magic "stomp" attack is completely harmless. It has several frames where it is "invincible" meaning your attacks will miss it completely, irritating, I know, but with that comes it's biggest weakness.
If Bigfoot is pushed to either edge of the map, and I mean the very edge, it will get somewhat stuck. After you hit it, it'll begin it's knock back animation (assuming you hit it hard enough) which is unusually long, once it finally gets over it, it'll be facing away from you; off the screen. You have about 1 second here to knock it back again before it comes stampeding into you. If you maintain the knock back it'll stay stuck, turning it into a joke of a boss. Makes it very easy to get through its 32,000,000HP. On that note, it also gives a lot of EXP considering its HP, making it a rather sought after boss (mostly for leeching unfortunately), aside from that, it has no valuable drops aside from its toe, used for the deputy pendant quest.

Most people don't choose fire poison
If you've been training up well in MapleStory, you've probably reached the time when you will be able to advance to the 2nd job advancement.
It is a good idea to note that at level 30, a magician is much more powerful than the other classes. This puts you at an advantage and you may be able to level up faster at this point.
So once you reach level 30, you will want to return to Ellinia and speak to Grendel the Really Old. After talking to him, he will send you to the 2nd job advancement instructor in The Forest North of Ellinia. After reaching level 70, obtain a Dark Crystal. Travel all the way to Orbis and head down Orbis Tower in order to get to El Nath. At El Nath, look for the highest portal on the map and go inside it. There will be three people inside it, one of which is named Tylus. Speak to him and then return to Dances with Balrog, who you should find in Perion. When you speak to him, he will teleport you to a dungeon. Walk through it until you reach the 24 hour store, named Ant Tunnel park. Find the Door of Dimensions and go inside.
Go to the end of the area you just got to, you should find the Dark Warrior. He will drop a black charm when you defeat him.
Go back to Dances with Balrog and give him the Black Charm. He will take it from you and in return, he will give you a Necklace of Strength, which you need to bring back to Tylus in El Nath. When you finish doing so, leave El Nath using a door to the right. Keep heading through portals until you reach the map titled "El Nath: Ice Valley II". Go to the very top until you reach a portal to Sharp Cliff 2. When you get there, you will have to find a secret portal in the top right part of the map, so just keep pressing up in that area until you find it. When you get inside, you'll be in the map "Holy Ground at the Snowfield". Find and double click on the green dot and you will have to answer five questions.

Gems and crystals are the same
There are 3 major types of "secondary" materials. They are gems, crystals and stimulators. Gems can give bonuses of all kinds that equipment can normally have, other than the basic 4 stats. Crystals give bonuses to the 4 basic stats of luck, int, dex and str. Stimulators increase the chance of higher than normal base stats (higher attack, def, etc) and are often thought to not allow below average stats, but they give the item creation a 10% chance of failure

1) There is a small cost to strengthening.

3) Each time a gem or crystal is strengthened, there is a chance to get 1 of 3 "grades" from the strengthening.

3 Easy Steps For Building Your Magician
This Maplestory Magician Guide will cover a few steps that will have you well on your way to becoming an amazing magician.
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you build your magician:
Put the majority of your AP into INT
Keep your STR and DEX to a minimum, just so you can equip items
Make sure your stats are correctly distributed at the beginning

The left one has lower attack
Aside from that, Pianus has all the typical attacks you'd expect: a big beam dealing 3,700~ (left) or 4,700~ (right), avoidable 10t weights that drop down dealing the same damage as the beam and of course, HP 1/MP 1. It also casts physical and magic immunity. (far too frequently if you ask me...) It can also dispel and lock skills, though the right side will only do this if someone is standing behind it (in it). If you've been wondering what I mean by left and right, two Pianus (Pianii?) can spawn in the same map, obviously on the left and right side. Though similar, they have several differences: The left one has lower attack, hp and defence. But dispels and locks skills far far more often. It also gives around 300,000 less experience than the right one.

Jane and the Wild Boar
There are many great mesos-making quests inside MapleStory that can make you a few Millions and one of them is as follows:
Quest name: Jane and Wild Boar
Location: Lith Harbour
Level Required: 25
This is a Killer quest as well. This quest is very easy because of what you need to get. Most of the time, the times you need you have already been hunting. In this case you will need to kill and get wild boar teeth. You will need 100 wild boars' teeth and 120 horned mushrooms. This quest is very simple, just a simple collection quest. Once you finish this quest, return it and you will receive an attack scroll!
1. Every time I completed this quest, I received a 60% attack scroll for magicians. This is worth a lot of mesos. Each time I did this, I sold the scroll for 2 millions mesos! A Quick Guide to Making Maple Story Mesos
Making Mesos can be hard, especially at low levels, and its never fun to site and grind all day without making any progress. There is good news however, you can make quite a lot of Mesos relatively easily if you know what you are doing. There are 3 main techniques to making Mesos, Grinding, Questing and Saving them once you make them. I will explain these 3 techniques in a bit more detail:
1. Grinding is the simplest way to make Mesos but it can be annoying if you do not know how to do it properly. The key is to grind only monsters that are within two levels of yourself and to make sure you spend your points properly. Put your points into HP or mana if applicable in order to reduce downtime and make your grinding more effective. Try to find enemies that you can kill in just a couple of hits for the maximum time to Mesos ratio. Fighting monsters that are too high in level will increase the damage you take and thus create more downtime and make you use your healing items which cost the Mesos you are trying to gain.

Fighters and Pages are essentially the same until you reach level 50, but Spearmen are considerably worse for a while. For this reason, most people choose to be Fighters or Pages at this point. From levels 50-70 Spearmen eventually catch up, while, as it turns out, Pages actually become the weakest in the end. Fighters become the strongest with a skill called Rage.

Remember Dances with Balrog? Go back to Perion and talk to him. After doing so, head west until the music changes (about two "screens"). Then go up for a while until you see someone standing. Talk to this man and he'll take you to the testing area, where you'll be fighting Lupins and Fire Boars. These are a little different from the ones you normally find, but they have less HP. In order to always land a hit on them, you need 43 points in accuracy. If you don't meet that, buy some sniper potions and use them to boost your accuracy during the test. You don't need to fight both types of monsters, so it's recommended that you fight only the Fire Boars as the Lupins can be difficult to kill.
These monsters drop marbles, and you need 30 of them in order to prove your worth. After you've collected them all, talk to the guy in the testing area and he'll give you an item called Proof of Hero. Maple Story Magician Guide
You need to know how to use the Ability Points properly in the MapleStory game to add to the stat of your Magician character at the very start of the game. This is to ensure that your Magician character will be at his full power.
Click on the "F" on the keyboard to bring up your stat screen whenever you level up. This is where you will be able to allocate your points into the stats of your choice.
The main stat for a Magician is Intelligence (INT) and most of your points should be put into that.
The other stat that a Magician needs is LUK. LUK (Luck) is only used for the Magician as a requirement to wear most Mage equipment.
In this case, you just need to keep LUK at 3 points above your existing level. So, if you are level 15 now, your LUK should be 18.
All other Ability Points should be put right into INT.
To advance to a Magician once you have hit level 8, head over to Perry and find your way to Magic Library at Ellina. Talk to Grendel the Really Old and he will then make you a Magician.
Once you become a Magician , you will have a whole new array of skills to destroy your enemies with. You will also be able to start using Skill Points in your Magician skills to become more powerful!

Thief Build, Job Advancement
As a Thief, you are going to have the choice of advancing at level 30 to become an Assassin or a Bandit.
While you do not have to choose which one to become until you reach level 30, it is a very good idea to know
which one you will want to advance to as soon as you hit level 10 so that you may spec and use your Skill Points in the correct build to help you down the road as you progress in the game.
As an Assassin, you are a quick range attacker that becomes one of the most powerful classes in the game.
While as an Assassin, you can travel the world fast and do extreme amounts of damage from afar, but the downside to Assassins is that they are very expensive to train. You will need to spend a lot of money on an Assassin while levelling and training him but as you reach higher levels you will be rewarded.
As a Bandit, you are able to deal high amounts of damage at high levels and they cost less money to train while levelling and buying armour. While Bandit is extremely fast and can dodge a lot of enemy's attacks, they still have to go toe to toe with their foes dealing melee attacks while an Assassin can kill from afar.

The hired merchant is probably a better choice If you have limited computer access. Though hired merchants have different styles and durations, they all have the same basic function, that is, to "sell" your wares for you. You do not have to be logged on or even present in the free market to make use of a hired merchant. Hired merchants have different "looks" that you can choose from, the most common of which, is a mushroom looking shop. There are also "robot" shops and coffee shops as in GMS. The hired merchant is the best option if you only have one computer and do not have continuous access to a computer, or a stable setup. The downside of the hired merchant is that it costs more and has to be reset at least once every 24 hrs.

Papulatus also regularly heals
Papulatus is quite an old boss these days, and is one that is barely poses a threat anymore. Located deep in the Ludibrium clock tower, it is only accessible after completing a rather long and tedious quest.
First of all, let's have a look at what Papulatus is capable of. The fight takes place in two stages. (three really, though the first hardly counts) The bulk of the fight consists of the Papulatus Clock itself.
The first phase is simply the summoning orb, it has no abilities but reasonable touch damage. Its death spawns Papulatus.
The first "true" phase of the Papulatus fight is the Papulatus Clock, it has a wide variety of all the usual abilities. It has the obvious direct damage magic attacks dealing around 1,800 damage. HP1/MP1 is a given, however it is somewhat different in Papulatus' case, after casting HP1/MP1, Papulatus will retreat into its... shell I suppose, where it'll avoid all attacks for about 5 seconds. The bombs look identical, but there are the top and bottom variants, which are summoned on the top and bottom platforms obviously. Papulatus also regularly heals itself and everything around it for about 20,000 or so, tough it barely matters. Finally, it deals around 3,100 touch damage. This form of Papulatus has 23,000,000HP

Yup, still alive. Just not playing Maple Story anymore. It’s unlikely that I will return anytime soon, but I always hold out hope that I will one day return to finish my journey as a Ranger, and take the next step to Bowmaster.
